Joys & Concerns 1/23

Hi everyone,

Here are the joys and concerns for the week:

- Jason Lincoln's friend's wife had good scans and will undergo 2 more rounds of chemo to hopefully knock it out.

- Virginia's dad will be having a follow-up regarding his prostate cancer.

- Julie's cousin is in Afghanistan with the army, and Wayne's brother will be deployed in March.

- Phil's Aunt Beep was hospitalized for chest pains. Update from Amy: She is scheduled to have surgery this evening to install a pacemaker. However, during the pre-op exam, they found a small tumor on the site where the pacemaker will be installed. So, they will be removing the tumor, checking for others, and installing tonight.

Happy Birthday Eileen on January 25th & Happy Birthday Erin on January 26th!!

Have a great week everyone! :)

LEAP and Check-In

Hi all! Hope this week has been a good one. Just wanted to share a link to a short video Virginia created about the LEAP event at the church on 2/5. Click here to view it when you get a chance. It highlights the guest speaker and the breakout sessions. I'm part of the 'Generation Gap' group focusing on how to improve the attendance and participation of 18-35 year olds. We need ideas from you guys, so please join us and share your thoughts! Of course you may attend any group....just hope to see you there!

On another topic.... as a class we will be helping at the Sunday School check-in kiosks for the months of February and March. I believe Victor will count this as one of our service missions for Two Become One. We already have a few people in the class who have volunteered before and for those that have not, trust me it's EASY and QUICK (only 30 minutes before Sunday School). Your efforts will help our Children's Ministry leaders focus on guests, teachers and kids and not technology. :) I will explain more and send around a sign up sheet on Sunday. Hoping we can continue to help as a group throughout the year.

Thanks, Janessa

Treasurer's Update

Hi! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season! Due to the holidays and life in general I am a little behind on my treasury update. Don't worry those of you who wrote checks, they were deposited on 12/30 so all is well for tax write off purposes! Sorry it took me until then to get them deposited, I will work on this in the future! We had another good month as far as deposits and missions. See below:

Previous Balance (as of 11/10/10) $1,886.49
Withdrawls:
Thanksgiving Mission (150.00)
Deposits (since 11/10) 314.00

Balance 12/31/10 $2,050.49

Paid in Full Update to be paid 10/2011:
In November we had $525 towards our $1500 to be paid in October 2011, to that we will add a one time deposit by a class member of $50 (included in deposits above) as well as half of the remaining deposits ($264) or $132 making our paid in full balance accumulated of $779, yea, over 1/2 way there! That leaves us with about $1300 to do other missions and things for the time being but if we don't make it to the $1500 through contributions over the next 10 months we will have to take the remainder from the treasury which we need to do other missions and things. Please stay mindful of this as we need to stay committed to what we put on our card last year as well as continue to do other missions and things in the community. Remember you can write checks if you don't have any cash on Sundays! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to 2011.

Have a great week!
Ashlea
