Christmas party note

Hi Y'all,

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday. I wanted post a few things about the Christmas dinner. I think most of you have been here before, the address is 101 San Mateo Ct, Allen 75013. Wayne has informed me there is lots of good football on this upcoming Saturday. Guys rest assured we will have a football watching room available for those who wish to partake in some male bonding. Sherrye has done a great job of arranging for Dickeys to provide all the food. You are welcome to BOYB or bring anything else you may like.

Lastly Erin's workplace is collecting canned food for the Samaritan Inn, Collin County's only homeless shelter. If you would like to bring any canned or nonperishable food the night of the Christmas dinner it would be appreciated. I thought that we could make this a fun little contest. Whichever couple brings the most canned food will win the choice number 1 spot in the ornament exchange. Most of us have witnessed the cut throat ornament stealing that goes on during the exchange. The ladies want to have that number one pick.

Have a great week and we will see you on Saturday.

Julie

Holiday Missions Blitz

Ok, gang! It's that time of year. The holiday's have arrived and it's time to make a final push through the end of the year for missions. Tax write-off, feel good action, get off Santa's naughty list, whatever the motivation I think this year we can all agree our missions are probably more needed than ever.

We have 3 things going on right now:
1. November coat drive. Bring your used coats to class any Sunday in November and they will go to a local shelter to help keep the homeless warm through the winter. As we discussed in class, the church is not having a church-wide food drive for Thanksgiving so we are doing this instead.

2. Head Start Adopt-a-Family - due Dec. 7th - We have two families, info below. We are asking for two couples per person but may amend that depending on response.
- Family of 5: Emily Juarez & her two sisters and mother & father
- Family of 3: Dave Franco & his mother & father

3. Friday Night Friends Holiday Banquet (Friday Dec. 5th) - FNF is holding it's annual Christmas party on the 5th of next month. They will be feeding 140 kits and 110 parents and our counting on SS classes to help feed the crowd. Food & Drink will need to be dropped off at the church before 5 p.m. on the 5th. If you're interested in helping setup, serve or clean that is also available. Sign-up info is below.

Thanks everyone. I know it hasn't been the best missions year but we have an opportunity to close out strong. - Jason

Head Start:
Dave Franco (Age 4) - 1. Glover, 2. Burkett

Christmas Party 2008 Final (maybe...)

Hey everyone! I think we finally have a game plan for the Christmas party: We will all meet at Julie and Wayne's house at 6:00 on Sat. Dec 6 for a BBQ dinner followed by our traditional ornament exchange. Dinner will be catered by Dickey's BBQ and will include the following: Each plate will have 2 meats (beef & ham), 3 veggies (baked beans, potato salad and mac & cheese), dinner rolls, pickles, onions, relish and apple cobbler for dessert. Tea as well as plates, cups and silverware will also be provided. If you wish to bring any other drinks or desserts feel free to do so, however we will have plenty of stuff if you just want to show up.

The cost per couple will be $20 (or $10 per person). Delivery for the food is scheduled for 5:45 so if everyone could be there by 6:00 the food will be hot and ready to eat. Please RSVP to me by Sunday 23rd so that we can place our order with Dickey's. Hope to see ya'll there!

Officer Nominations for Jan-Sept 2009 term

Hello Gang -

It's that time of the year once again to nominate our Sunday School officers for the upcoming Jan-Sept 2009 term. First and foremost I want to personally thank all of our officers as well as those who helped fill in our officer vacancies during the year for their time, effort, and hard work. Please join me in thanking these individuals for their dedication and commitment to making TwoBecomeOne a great place for our TwoBecomeOne family to share in worship and fellowship.

Second, as noted above we will be nominating upcoming officers to serve a 9 month term, from January - September 2009. This short term is necessary because starting in January 2009 CRUMC is transitioning the Sunday School year to parallel that of the academic school year. Therefore, officers will enter leadership in September of each year instead of January. To enable this transition, we will nominate new officers to serve a 9 month term, from January - September 2009, then in Summer 2009 we will hold another round of nominations for officers who would then enter leadership and serve from September 2009 - August 2010.

Third, I will keep nominations open through end of day next Monday, November 10th and plan to have members vote the following week with new officers to be announced after our Thanksgiving break.

Lastly, for those individuals elected to serve the upcoming term please make a future note that the Jan-Sept 2009 Sunday School Leader's Training is scheduled for the morning of January 10th, 2009.
