May Mission

Hi everyone,

Our May Mission, with Memorial Day coming up, is going to be helping create care packages for our troops. A little thank you to them for all that they do for us, the largely goes unnoticed, yet provide "the very blanket of freedom that we sleep under." (Thank you Jack Nicholson :)

Beginning this Sunday through May 16, please bring items to the class room that you would like to send. There will be a box that we can put everything in. Items are things such as dry snack, chip, nuts, chewing gum, bottled water, bottled gatorade, ect. The also need bedding, towels, and toiletries. Playing cards, frizbees, soccer balls, magazines, and other entertainment items. Keep in mind this stuff has to be mailed over seas, so things like chocolate or other meltable things will melt before they arrive.

I'll have a box in the class room for us to collect the goods in. Currently the plan is to have Taci Kissler at the church to help us distribute what we collect. However if anyone out there has a family member or friend, that they would like to send this too for them and their unit, please let me know so I can gather the data. Obviously that will require a little more research and planning on our part than it would through Taci.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

Our April Mission Blitz

Hi everyone,

We decided in class today to provide the Milk and Eggs to Samaratin Inn, a homeless shelter in Mckinney for this coming week.

At some point this week, preferrably earlier than later, we need to purchase and deliver 20 Gallons of Milk and 20 dozen eggs.

Is there any on out there that would like to be part of the purchising or delivering part????

The Inn is off HWY5 in McKinney, I think, so really isn't that far off.

Let me know if you are interested.

President Update

This weeks president update. Consider yourself updated!

Congratulations to Crossroads, Beyond Belief, Faith, Fun & Fellowship and Neighbors in Faith. These 4 classes had 100% attendance. Thanks to there visitors' Beyond Belief had 115% attendance. This past Sunday many classes did very well. At 8:30 the attendance was 75.9% and at 9:45 it was 61%. We had 773 adults attending and 27 visitors; there were 800 adults in Sunday school. Way to go!Events on the horizon:1. I am starting a Sr. council to look at the Senior ministry at Custer Road. If your class is in the demographics please remember to give me your class reps if you have not done so already. 2. There has been a request for an Adult Information desk for the basement area. I am beginning to put together ways to get this accomplished. We will need volunteers to help greet and offer help to those interested in finding a class. More will be coming to you about this in the next month. If you have suggests or ideas please send them my way.

Missions Update

Hi everyone,

Mission Blitz is underway!

1) For our part I thought we'd help out the Samaratin Inn Homeless Shelter. We will be either purchasing and delivering their weekly eggs and milk for this week and/or next, or we will work through the church donating paper goods and serving materials for the meals they serve and prepare. I am still working out the details and finances so I'll get back to you with more. If you have a preference or would like to help. Please email me at wtrodriguez@yahoo.com.

2) Blood vans will be at the church this Sunday.

3) We got a very nice thank you letter on the clothing drive for Genesis. It sounds like it was a great sucess.

4) Check out how much money Custer Road raised in March for the God's Pantry food drive that we participated in. It's in the weekly paper. I think Suzanne said it was something like 3X what we did last year!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the help with that too.

See you soon,

Wayne

Reminder: Sunday (Upper Room)

A couple quick reminders for Sunday. We are wrapping up spiritual gifts and will be meeting in the Upper Room. It sounds like it will be a fun group ending to the study. Let's try to sit together if we can. We'll try to get there early and plan on meeting on the right side as your facing the stage.

Also, if you have not filled out your "Neighbor's Gift" survey please do so and bring Sunday or email to me over the next week. If you need a copy email me at jason.lincoln@gmail.com and I can send the attachment as I apparently can't do it on here.

Journey Teachers Needed

Hi everyone. The Journey classrooms need teachers for the next session May 3- May 31st. I ask that you consider volunteering as a way to serve God and our church, even if your spiritual gift is not teaching. :) Teaming up is welcome. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity and contact me at jwilkins@crumc.org if you would like to help. Thanks~Janessa
