Games Social Update

Hope everyone who made it had a fun time at the brunch this morning. It was good to see everyone. A few of us had a chance to talk about game night so I wanted to get everyone updated and start getting some input from everyone. We're planning it as a late afternoon or evening event with the finish time to be determined when you have nintendo thumbs or wii tennis elbow.

First and foremost the food update. Jarod won't be able to barbeque to some commitments earlier in the day so we have a couple other options. 1. Grill hot dogs/burgers or fajitas during the social. 2. Order pizzas. Reply back to Sherrye or myself with your preference. We're looking to try and keep it right at the $5 mark again.

Second the games. Here's what we have right now.
1. Living Room - Nintendo Wii (dan's bringing 2 extra controllers to make 4 controllers)
---Games: Wii Sports, Mario Kart (maybe), Wii Play (dan)
2. Master - Nintendo circa 1988 (if I can find our power cord or if someone else has one)
---Games: Super Mario Bros., Tetris, etc.
3. Game Room - XBox 360 (courtesy Dan) & two guitars
---Games: Guitar Hero III
4. Office: TBD (I have a PS2 that could go here but only 1 controller, I'd prefer an old school system)
---Games: TBD

Ok. That's where we are at right now. I know we can do better and make this a true "relive your youth "weekend with old school systems like Atari, Nintendo, Sega, etc. So let us know if you have a game system you'd be willing to bring or group friendly games or accessories for any of the above. Please post below. We just have the 4 tv's but have room to do probably a couple more if someone wants to bring an old TV (if you bring a new one I can't promise you won't be going home with one of my old ones in its place!). Post what your bringing if anything for entertainment so we can get an idea of where we'll be and start working on your old school skills. (no looking up cheats allowed)

Also if interested and anyone has any we could probably setup a couple outdoor games like washers or horsheshoes in the back if we're grilling. Thanks - Jason

Game Night Social - Saturday May 17th

Greetings everyone! By popular demand, our next social will be game night - video games that is. Jason and Ashlea are so kind to lend us their house, however, we will need to provide whatever games we want to play (anything from 1970 to current) and maybe a couple of extra tv's. Also, please start getting your babysitters lined up because this one is for the parents to get away and play for a little while! Since we are planning on eating dinner, when you RSVP go ahead and put down a side dish, dessert, drinks that you would like to bring. For the main course we will either have pizza or if Jarod agrees to cook, bar-be-que. Either way, we will need for each couple to throw in a few bucks (I'll let you know a $ when we get closer to the time). Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Sherrye

Friday Night Friends - Postponed

Since we only have a couple people who have said they will be able to make it I think it would be best to hold off on Friday Night Friends this Friday.

Future options are: May 16th (with the young adults group) or the first weekend in June. Does anyone have a preference? I'd like to have at least 5 or 6 people from our class if we are going to do this.

Thanks,

Jason

Friday Night Friends

Friday Night Friends is coming up in a little over a week on April 25. I would like to be able to provide a volunteer count to them on Sunday night so if you can let me know if you will or will not be able to make it I would appreciate it. Sorry I didn't get this up sooner. - Jason (jason.lincoln@gmail.com or 972.523.9697)

Announcement update, etc

Hello Everyone - just a quick update from last Sunday's SS announcements.....

- I received some additional information on the new bus greeter recruitment that is currently going on:

Hospitality In Action ~ Become a Bus Greeter Rev. Dickson and his staff are asking your classes to consider being greeters on our Sunday morning buses. There will be 2 shifts: 9:20 to 9:50 and 10:35 to 11:05. We would like three people to volunteer to greet people getting onto buses, ride the bus with them and answer anyone's questions, help them off the bus, ride the bus back, and start over again. We run three buses, so one person per bus. It would be great if your class would take one shift for one month. Please consider giving it a try.

Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering and I would be more than happy to coordinate a month for us. Also, they have set up a volunteer recrutiment table located under the new member picture board near the sanctuary where they are currently recruiting members to be door greeters, Welcome Center volunteers, parking lot greeters, or bus greeters.

- Spread the Word T-shirts will be available again this week in Fellowship Hall for anyone who did not get one last Sunday - they are FREE and all you have to do is commit to wearing it once a week for one month into the community. The Spread the Word store will be in FH the next 2 Sundays selling Custer Road merchandise - you have until April 28 to place orders for delivery sometime in May (try to check it out if you can - they have some pretty neat stuff for sale).

- Bring a Friend Sunday is April 27th w/ receptions following all 3 services in room 130 (more information to come).

Everyone have a great week!
