Joys & Concerns 10/24

Hi everyone,

Virginia led our discussion on "Cultivating Contentment," Chapter 3 of Enough this week. Chad will lead final chapter, "Defined by Generosity" next week. Here are the joys and concerns for the week:

- Amy & Lucas are flying to North Carolina on Thursday.

- Jason's friend's wife, Kellison, started biochemotherapy.

- Virginia's uncle recently passed away, and her family is working on arrangements.

- Virginia's dad is undergoing hormone therapy and will be tested again in 4 months.

- Paxton Garcia was born on 10/19, and the family is doing well.

- The Oldham's are expecting a girl!

- Janessa & Michael had to put their dog to sleep.

- Ashlea's high school friend's 3 year old boy has been having seizures.

Happy 10th Anniversary to the Lax's on October 28th!

Hope to see everyone in class next week! Have a great rest of the week! :)

Weekly Update

Hi all,

Short and sweet this week.

Virginia is leading week 3/Chapter 3 in Enough.... this week. Both of the lessons so far have been excellent so I can't wait for this one.

Jason Lax has invited everyone over to his house for his annual "Octoberfest" party on Sat. Chris' band will be playing for a while too. Always a blast. Call Jason for details.

See you soon.

Baby Blessings!

Hi all...

In case you hadn't heard Victor, Angie, Bryson and Caleb welcomed Paxton Cade to their family, last night (10/19) at 8:08 pm. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long. Everyone is doing well! I know Angie is welcoming visitors today in the hospital - email or call her if you'd like.

Also, former class member Paul Akin and his wife Rachel had their first son, Zachary Nicholas on 10/17/2010. Paul emailed me that his blood sugar is low so they are monitoring him at the hospital for a couple of days, but they will go home today.

Please keep these families in your thoughts/prayers.

Thanks, Janessa

Hello All,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Brett led a good discussion today about how we can set ourselves up to be more financially responsible. Next week will be talking about chapter 3 Cultivating Contentment. Thank you to everyone who contributed the October mission Harvest boxes.

Joys & Concerns:
Big joy this week, Angie is being induced Friday. Unless baby boy Garcia decides to come sooner Oct. 22nd is the day. We wish them all the best for a safe delivery of a healthy happy baby.

Former class member Paul Akin and his wife Rachel have an induction date for this Thursday. They are expecting their first child, a little boy.

Great news the White family is officially joining the church on Sunday. We are very happy to have Amy, Aaron, and their boys become a part of the Custer Road family.

Jason Lax's brother Eric and his family have relocated to Michigan from Chicago. Hopefully they will have a smooth transition to their new city.

Brett's brother who is in the Army will be coming back very soon from his tour of duty. The Glover family is looking forward to his safe return home.

Erica & Erin's grandmother broke her hip a few weeks ago. She had a total hip replacement and is doing very well with her recovery. Go Granny.

Phil's boss is no longer in remission, his cancer has returned. He has started chemotherapy again.

Jason Lax's cousin has been diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has started chemo and is improving.

Missions:
Our upcoming mission for November and December will be adopting a Headstart family or families. We will provide the means for them to have a Thanksgiving dinner and hopefully be able to gift them with the items they are in need of for Christmas. Victor will have more details on this in the coming weeks.

Socials:
Our November social is going to be a Guys Night/ Girls Night Out.

Have a wonderful week,
Julie

Weekly Update

Hi everyone,

Brett is leading a discussion on Chapter 2 of Enough. It focuses on setting up a financial plan and goal for long term finanical success. Seems right up Brett's alley. Should be a good one.

Don't forget your items for the Harvest Boxes. This is the last Sunday before they are due on Oct 20. Bring them to the room and Victor or someone can get them where they need to go. If you missed the sign ups, contact Victor at victor@landmarkpremier.us.

Thanks for everything.

Joys and Concerns for the Week 10/11/2010

Hi everyone.

Jason Lincoln led a great discussion today to kick off our stewardship campaign. We had good discussion about the pursuit of money and the pitfalls that come along. We focused on keeping God's purpose first in a world consumed with "getting more." Thanks for leading that Jason. Next week Brett leads Chapter 2.

Happy Birthday's to Sam Lax (10/9) and Janessa (10/13). Have great days.

Joys and Concerns for the Week:

Virginia's Dad Dennis is battling the early stages of Prostate Cancer that may be spreading. He and the family are going through a tough time as they wait for test results and treatment plans to come in.

Jason Lincoln's friend Kelsey is battling stage 4 cancer as well. Tough situation for someone so young.

Hannah is coming back today after and extended weekend in Arkansas with her grandparents. Safe returns and and fond memories of the weekend that was (for Michael and Janessa.)

See you soon,

Wayne

Treasurer's Update

Hello! My last update of the treasury was on 5/22 so it has been a little less than 5 months since I updated everyone on the state of the treasury, note that last time it was about 6 months between updates so I am getting better.....I'll try to be more consistent (like monthly) from here on out.

Previous Balance (from 5/22/10 post) $1909.23
Deposits $ 217
Withdrawls $ (70)-This was for the June mission-Sunday's for VBS
Balance 10/10 $2056.23

Paid in Full-$1500 to be paid in October 2011 Update
In May we had $416 towards paid in full, we will add an additional $109 to that from the deposits noted above giving us a total of $525 towards our $1500 to be paid in October 2011. Since we are at the halfway point we need to be at $750 so we are over $200 short. We need to stay mindful of this commitment that we made and hopefully not have it hurt what is in our treasury as we need to be using that money for missions and such. When we made this commitment we had about 15 couples in the class so this essentially worked out to approximately $100 per couple over 2 years so please keep that in mind when you are donating to the treasury on a weekly basis (no one is looking to see who is putting in what so don't feel like you have to give a lot if the ability is not there either). I wanted to get this out there as everyone is making their yearly commitments to the church as this is a commitment that we made and agreed upon as a class. Remember that we can take checks (and I promise to deposit them) so don't let not having cash stop you from donating. Offering is always down over the summer so I am not terribly concerned about this but will continue to update everyone monthly so that we can fulfill this commitment. If you want to give an amount specifically to this please let me know and I won't split it like I do with the weekly offering. The reason for that is that we normally gave half of our offering to the church and decided to give it to Paid in Full for the 2 years that that campaign runs. Questions or concerns or if this is super confusing please don't hesitate to call me!

Have a great day!
Ashlea

Joys & Concerns 9/26

Hi everyone,

I am so sorry I am so late in posting this week! Chad led our lesson on Philemon last Sunday. Here are the joys and concerns for the week:

- Michael's parents have a family friend who passed away suddenly from an aneurysm.

- Brett's brother may not be returning home from Iraq as soon as was originally thought.

Hope y'all have had a great week! See everyone back in class in 2 weeks!
