Treasury Update

Our class checking account is now open and funded. We currently have a balance of $1351.50. As soon as I have the permanent checks for the account, I will be writing a check to the church for half of our current balance. Going forward, I am planning on making one deposit per month and writing a check to the church equal to half of the deposit.

If anyone wants to write checks for their offering, that option is now available. Please make checks out to CRUMC- Two Become One.

Happy Halloween

I hope everyone is having a great week. I wanted to give everyone a quick update.

We had a small class this week for the final week of the stewardship campaign and then went to the single worship service in the tent as a class. We pick back up with the couples study this week. If you were not there please make sure to send in your pledge card to the church or turn it in next time you are at church.

Suzanne asked for your prayers for her during class as she let us know that she is going through a divorce. Please keep her in your thoughts. I feel very grateful that she is so involved in our class and the church and has a great christian network to help her through this very difficult time. I was glad to hear that she will still be coming to our class and continuing to give us such great insight which I'm sure will only grow as she continues through seminary.

Also just to let everyone know the Eidson's, Meghan and Baron, let us know that they have found some other niche's in the church and will not be members of our class going forward. I know they are very involved with the youth program now and that it is a great fit for them. We will be reaching out to them this week as well to make sure they know they can always lean on us if they need anything.

Have a Happy Halloween and look forward to seeing everyone Sunday. The Rushings and Oldhams are on breakfast duty. I believe Dan will be in class as I am likely traveling this weekend.

Prayers

Continue to pray for a friend of my family's little girl (Taylor). She is going to have surgery tomorrow to remove the tumor that is growing in her head. This is a very risky surgery. They will not be able to remove the whole tumor but will get what they can. There will probably be more surgeries in her future but if the tumor gets too big then even surgery may not be an option. The family is just trying to spend as much time with her as possible. She is 7.

One more thing...

Michael and Michelle Taylor joined the church and our class this past Sunday. I believe they are our 7th and 8th Aggies in the class, so give them a good old fashioned Ag welcome by saying Howdy!

Weekly Update

Happy Tuesday everyone,

Just a few quick updates and reminders from class Sunday.

First and foremost, joys and concerns:
- Debbie's Grandma who has cancer was placed on hospice last week
- My cousin Joshua was involved in a motorcycle accident which left him paralyzed at the waist. He is having surgery today but they are pretty sure the paralysis is permanent.
- Erin's babysitters friends were in an accident that left one person paralyzed and in critical condition.

This coming Sunday, Sunday School is at 9. We have a quiz/game to play and then will go over to church in the tent across the street at 10. Sunday School is normally at 9:45 as a friendly reminder to those we haven't seen in a while ;). If everyone is up for it we can attend the service as a class. If you get there early enough you may be able to park in the church lot, otherwise you will need to take the buses in from the parking lot at Custer and Legacy.

Jarod taught our final lesson on stewardship this week. We will pick back up on the couples lesson in November.

Have a great week and look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday at 9.

DFW Breast Cancer 3-Day

Hi there -
Just a reminder.......
DFW Breast Cancer 3-day is Oct 26-28. Pray for me, all the walkers, crew & volunteers as they journey 60 miles. I'm also nursing a hip injury, so I'll need some extra prayers for strength. Also, keep prayers for all those who are Survivors as well as those who have lost loved ones to this battle.

Thanks & have a great week!

October update

Howdy!

Yes I'm still willing to use my Aggie greeting in spite of having the worst football team I can remember in 10 years of being an Aggie. But hey, it's almost basketball season.

I am going to try to start using this forum to communicate what is going on for those that haven't been able to be in class. The last few weeks we've been a little light in class - maybe the stewardship campaign is scaring everyone off. There is only two more weeks of that but I would encourage you to make it. I've sat through my fair share of stewardship campaigns and this one is really one of the better ones I remember. It's not really about numbers at all but more about our focus and we've had some really great discussions in class to go along with it.

I opened the study two weeks ago with a lesson about giving and some examples of people who give in unusual situations. Wayne followed it up this Sunday with a lesson on why we give and some of the preconceived notions that make us hesitant to give.

On another note it is official, Two Become One has their own bank account at Legacy Bank under CRUMC - Two Become One. It is tied with the church account but will allow us to accept and write checks.

To go along with that we are going to start looking at the class mission projects we discussed. I've asked a few of our previous mission chairs to look at possible options but if you have suggestions please let us know. My goal is to decide on something on Nov. 18th for both this year and set a goal for a project we can "adopt" for next year.

A couple quick reminders:

- Sunday October 28th Sunday School is at 9 and we will be doing a game the church is providing and then there will be a single service in the parking lot across from the church in a tent for everyone. That will be at 10. Don't miss it.

- The boxes of food and items from Walmart for our October mission are due I believe this Sunday so you can bring them up to the church and drop them off at the office or bring them to class and we will get them to the office. We committed to 10 boxes I believe but there is certainly not a limit. I think we are at 3 or 4 right now. Just make sure to tell Martha if you drop one off so we hit our commitment or better yet exceed it.

- Dinners for Six - if you haven't had the opportunity try to get this scheduled for before Thanksgiving. If everyone likes this maybe we can start doing it once a quarter.

- Christmas party - We need to start working on this as we talked about shooting for Saturday Dec. 1st before everyone starts traveling and has work parties and stuff. Earlier will make it a little easier for us to find a place without putting a limit of 30 or 40 people.

I'm sure I forgot some things so remember you can comment on the posts in the blog and it will provide a good record of things. I hope everyone likes the new site. If you have any suggestions please pass them along.

Have a great week and hope to see everyone Sunday.

Posting to Website

If you are interested in posting something on this site, there are two ways to do it. One, tell Ginny (ginny_rushing [at] yahoo [dot] com) you would like to be a poster and get signed up with easy directions. Or, if you'd rather just email Ginny what you would like posted and it will be up within a few hours. The missions, social, and other officers are likely to need to post things regularly, so it might be a good idea for them to sign up.

Thanksgiving Boxes

Please don't forgot about the Thanksgiving boxes we are doing for Meals on Wheels. Martha is going to push the date back a week. Please bring the boxes to Sunday School no later than Sunday, October 21st. If it is easier you may also bring the boxes by her house. Please let Martha know if you need a paper box or if there is anything she can help you with. Her address is 2513 Roper Drive. They live about 3 minutes from the church.

Our Dinners for Six will begin this fall! Listed below are the groups which will dine together the first round. If it goes well, we can mix people up and try again after Christmas.

Here's the plan:

1. The couple with the * will coordinate the group's planning efforts.

2. Find a time before Thanksgiving when your group can get together with or without children to eat a meal at a restaurant or at someone's home.

That's it! Please report back if you've been left off the list! (Advanced apologies!)
